Campaign Story

For those that know Shawn and I (Casey), you know that we have been together for almost 10 years. We met while we were both working at Disney for a college internship. Coincidentally enough, we were both from the same city. Going into the relationship, I knew we would have trouble conceiving due to Shawn’s lifetime diagnosis of Cystic Fibrosis. I knew that it wasn’t impossible to have a baby, but it would be a journey. A journey I was willing to go on, because I have a strong and deep desire to be a mommy. We can’t conceive naturally so we have to go through IVF. We knew IVF was going to be expensive, but we didn’t realize just how draining the process would be… mentally, physically and financially. I also didn’t realize how much harder it would be when I found out that I, too, have trouble conceiving and keeping a pregnancy. Our health insurance doesn’t cover any treatments, so we had to take out a loan for the first cycle. Unfortunately, we have had 3 transfers and only one of which worked, but soon ended in a miscarriage. We are in limbo right now due to financial reasons. The funds we get through this fundraiser would help us transfer our last frozen embryo. If that transfer doesn’t work, we will need to start all over again with the in vitro process. We are struggling in more ways than just financially. We don’t necessarily like asking for charity, but unfortunately we are at the end of our rope. I can promise your donation will be spent trying to get our miracle rainbow baby into this world, so that we can share the good news and love with our friends and family.
